Israel Hofsheet is a non-partisan civic movement that works to change policy and legislation in religious-state relations in Israel.
Since its founding in 2009, the Israel Hofsheet has led a long line of public initiatives and struggles across the country to promote religious freedom and strengthen democracy: from the right to marry outside the rabbinate, through the struggle to exclude women in public, Redesign the nature of Shabbat in Israel – supermarkets, public transportation, cultural institutions and more.
Israel Hofsheet is a mouthpiece and a civic platform for a large public of Israelis who identify with its values: the movement leads public campaigns on the street, in the media, and on social networks, is in close contact with Knesset members and local elected officials, and provides the public with effective tools to make its voice heard.
We in Israel Hofsheet believe that the Jewish character of the State of Israel does not contradict its democratic values, and that openness, respect, and recognition of the variety of different currents are the key to the coexistence of the groups in the country.
